Actually, I have talked about this strategy for several years now.
There always seems to be "something" to distract from confronting issues.
When we were in our darkest hole, one year there was a lot of talk about a new
rich guy buying USChess Life. Of course the new rich guy was Paul Truong
before we realized he was really the new king of hyperbole.
Nonetheless, the old guard deceived the delegates into another year of apathy
and things went forward as they desired.
Both reds and blacks do it.
The rest of us are left to wonder why this selfdefeating course of behavior is
so popular with the old guard.
