| An article appeared Oct. 26 in the Crossville Chronicle in which USCF President
Beatriz Marinello was quoted several times by Chronicle assistant editor
Heather Mullinix.
Mullinix wrote that some in the chess community do not support the move to
Crossville, but, "I believe it is the right thing for the organization,"
Marinello said, noting the organization has more than 90,000 members, and the
centralized location could help expand that base."
How is a "centralized location" [in Crossville, Tennessee] going to help expand
the membership base?

P.S. When Marinello was interviewed, the organization did not have "more than
90,000 members." .It is one thing to hype the federation to potential sponsors;
it is another thing to hype it to journalists. Newspapers, by the way, are
guilty of the same thing - inflating their circulation figures with phony
figures in order to dupe potential advertisers.
