| First of all, Merry Christmas to all my xiangqi friends!
The 13th Asian Xiangqi Championships was held last month from 23rd to
27th in Beijing. A total of 66 players from fourteen member countries
of AXF took part to compete in three events.
I have completed converting all the games played in the championships
into web pages. Fans may view them online now at the AXF website
www.asianxiangqi.org. There is also a Word file containing the text
version of all the games for downloading, thanks to the guys at the
China Xiangqi Association. This file, however, is located at the
Chinese section of the AXF home page.
In response to a recent posting by Richard ("Reading Chinese Game
Scores") I have also posted an introduction on the basic rules and
notations of Xiangqi, in pdf format, at the AXF website. Hope it may
help the newcomers to the game.

Thanks for putting the games on the site. I'll be curious to go through
some of them and see how players who are much better than myself play
the game. Any chance you could post a direct link to the Word file
with the text version, for those of us who don't read enough Chinese to
find it ourselves without spending quite a bit of time clicking around
randomly?

The intro to the game is good for beginners, but not really what I was
asking for in my other post. The rules and notations, in English, are
already available in several places, so I already knew that
information. What I was looking for was information on how to read the
scores when they're written in Chinese characters, instead of the
Romanized translation. Thanks to the responses to my original post,
I've already got what I need, though, so don't worry about it.
Thanks again for updating the site!

| Thanks for your suggestion and Keith's response.
A link pointing to the Word file (contents are all Chinese) is now
provided.

| Can you recommend any programs which can read the XQF files?

XQF file is generated by a freeware called XQStudio. The author is a Mr
DONG Shiwei from P R China. Current version is 1.62. You may download
it from the following website: www.qipaile.net.
This is a Chinese website. But for fans who do not read Chinese, it is
not difficult to spot the link. Just look for the word XQStudio 1.6
(three places) on the homepage. By clicking on it will take you to the
downloading page.
The Chinese language has two popular internal code: GB2312 and Big5.
Choose whichever that suits you.
Hope that will help.
