| The AXF server was down for almost a day. Sorry, but there is nothing
much I can do when I am in Paris. In fact, I am most frustrated. The web
page is now updated with the round 10 results
posted.
Lv Qin is now in the lead. With only one game left against Michael Lee
of USA, and half a point ahead of Lei Kum Fun, it looks like Lv will
retain the world champion title for the 5th time without much problem.
The most talked of surprise is that Lei Kum Fun defeated two China GM,
Lv Qin and Liu DianZhong and Taipei's IGM Wu Gui Lin. I have posted
Lei's photograph and his game against Liu Dian Zhong this morning.
In the women's division, China's GM Guo Liping has again proved her
superiority over other ladies. She has already retained the champion
title one round before the end.
While I am posting this piece of news, the final round of both the
man's division and the women's division are still in progress

| Hi,
thanks for the update! Finally there is a temporary ranking available,
although without the standings of the Women's Division. Unfortunately
the page with the results of the 8th round can't be found, and there
are also no results of the women's 6th round yet. And the link to the
list of contestants is still broken.

| Dear Andreas,
Thank you for pointing out the broken link.
All results of both divisions and the final ranking (prize-winning
teams and players) are posted at the web site now.
I am now back in Singapore. I shall convert more games into java
appelets for online viewing in the next few days.

| Dear Felix,
thank you very much for promptly providing the remaining results! I'm
currently stuck in the office but as soon as I'm back home I'll update
the crosstables on my site. Do you plan to publish full rankings on the
AXF site as well? Although I'm glad to take part in some kind of global
WXC information network, I still think that those tables would be
better off on your site ;)
Thanks again for all the work you already have put into this project.
And I'm really looking forward to seeing more photos and games from the
tournament

| Dear Felix,
it's me again. I've uploaded an update and now I would like to ask you
whether you could be so kind to doublecheck the rankings, especially
those of the teams. I've added the Buchholz/Solkoff points to break
ties, but as Dave Woo pointed out in the DXB forum, in the past the
team with the higher placed player wins the tie. I stuck to the
R=E8glement which can be found on the french tournament site:
http://jmchauvet.club.fr/reglementXQ2005.pdf (571 KB). There it says:
"8.) R=E9sultats et d=E9partage: En cas d'=E9galit=E9 de score individuel
ou de score combin=E9 total pour les =E9quipes, le d=E9partage s'effectue
de la mani=E8re suivante: 1) les points Solkoff" and so on. To my
understanding this means that we have to use Solkoff points even for
team rankings, but maybe I'm misinterpreting something. Please tell me
what's right
Regards
Andreas

| Hi,
Mr Dave Woo's remarks on the tie break is correct.
If I remember correctly, Buchholz was never used in the past WXC to
break tie when it comes to team ranking. The WXC is basically an
Individual tournament, team ranking is derived from the performance of
the two players using the formula Team score = sum of the two players'
ranking. When a tie occurs, the individual ranking of the better player
in the team breaks the tie.
In this Championships, Italy, Hungary and Austria could not field two
players for
the team event, they were not included for team ranking. The final
ranking of the
22 participating teams, released by the organiser, are as follows
(numbers in brackets
denote the individual rankings of the players):
1. China (1,4)
2. Vietnam (3,7)
3. Chinese Taipei (5,11)
4. USA East (10,13)
5. China Hong Kong (9,16)
6. Singapore (12,15)
7. USA West (6,24)
8. China Macau (2,31)
9. Malaysia West (8,33)
10.France (18,23)
11.Australia (14,30)
12.Philippines (17,28)
13.Malaysia East (21,27)
14.Canada East (20,35)
15.Germany (19,38)
16.Canada West (22,37)
17.Holland (29,32)
18.Myanmar (Burma) (41,43)
19.United Kingdom (36,56)
20.Canada Central (49,52)
21.Finland (48,54)
22.Japan (40,63)
