Author There must be SOME chinese chess servers that work with telnet.....

There has to be some *free* Xiangqi servers, never mind ones you can
actually use a client to connect with like all the chess ones. Come on
I mean if Xiangqi really is more popular than Western Chess (no matter
how they arrived at that conclusion), surely there is even ONE Chinese
chess server out there that works through telnet! Why won't the servers
that I have ever connect? I don't want to use that stupid clubxiangqi
nonsense ever again. chessky.net is a bit better and at least they have
a proper client but it seems they can't even code it to properly move
the pieces properly and not in jumps and also so that you don't have to
click on a piece twice to move it/put it down. I'm disappointed that
nobody here seems even care that they have to put up with something
like clubxiangqi when there's alternatives like in Western chess where
you could go around seeking games and within a few seconds people would
be there to play, and all the good clients going with it. I don't know
why none of the Xiangqi servers are working for me, is it possible that
they somehow just ban some countries or types of connections, or are
they down for everyone?

If you search around you can find references to the Internet Chinese
Chess Server (software itself in iccs-1.3.tar.gz or later) which is
what you are looking for. I guess that there were some copyright
issues, and this just died off. I don't know if there is a server
running this any more. I think that if you search on google groups you
can find out more about its history.
