>From usual sources, we have the latest informations on the 9th World
Xiangqi Championships :
More than 30 countries and areas will be sending their teams to Paris,
with more than 120 men's and women's players to attend, prize fund
amounting to over a sum equivalent of HK$300,000.00, and most
importantly for the competitors, the rate of play will be 2 hours plus
10 minutes per player per game. (NB: please check this with your team
captain or organizers.) The opening and closing ceremonies will be
conducted on board a ship, a Xiangqi world first !

One feature that caught my eye is that the WXC9, Paris 2005, will be an
11-round contest. On opening and closing ceremonies being held aboard a
ship, you, Youhao, being the captain of an EU-member team, must have
privileged information we nobodies do not possess. Have a great
tournament. And to your team's success. David Li

Thank you, the WXC9, Paris 2005 will be a festival of Xiangqi for all,
to those who attending and those who surf the net too ! Indeed one
feels privileged on board a ship witnessing the opening and closing
ceremo-nies (will there be fire works on the river Seine to complete
the spectaculars?) If the Paris colour and atmosphere inspires to a new
Xiangqi book, so much the better for the readers !
