Hi,
My name is Alain Dekker. I'm fairly new to the game, but I love it and want
to get better. I've just ordered CK Lai's "An Introduction to the
openings" - hope its good.
I play Western chess to a good standard and use Fritz from ChessBase.com.
What is there available for Chinese Chess? I have Coffee-House chess which
is good for a quick game, but doesn't provide analysis, game-replay, etc. I
need something to practice my notation, enter my games and see where I went
wrong, study openings, etc.
I'm willing to pay for it, of course! Oh, and it obviously has to be in
English :o)
On another note, I will be going to the Xiangqi championships in Paris as a
member of the UK team (non-Chinese, of course). Do you know what the
official website is? I can't find it. More importantly, I need a visa for
France (personal reasons) and need a letter from the organisers that
accomodation will be provided.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Alain Dekker

Perhaps you may put your request to the organiser, the France Xiangqi
Association, through their contact person Mr HUA Say Ty. The contact
numbers and the e-mail address are as follows:
Phone: (33) 1 45 83 62 74
Fax: (33) 1 45 70 74 01
E-mail: asia-immobilier@wanadoo.fr
and the address of the organiser is
3 Avenue de Choisy, 75013 Paris, France.

| I don't know why in my last posting, the first part of
the e-mail address was trancated. Three characters
(ier) before the @ sign were replaced by dots.
The complete e-mail address should read:
asia-immobilier@wanadoo.fr

You can go to google groups and search through the archives to see the
opinions on various Xiangqi software. I believe that if you want a
strong English language program that your best bet is XieXie. You can
find out more about it and purchase it at the following page:
http://www.cc-xiexie.com/home.php
I have found them to be very responsive. So if you find that certain
features are missing, you may be able to influence future development.
You should be aware that XieXie uses copy protection and is normally
tied to one PC. IF my memory serves correctly you can get licenses
issued for up to 3 different PCs, but you should confirm this if it's
important to you.
Regards,
Keith

This was not so here (usenet.att.net), but I see that it appears thus on
groups-beta.google.com -- including in your corrective message. So google
is editing e.mail addresses in the bodies of messages, perhaps to reduce
spamming.
