| Thank you. Xiangqi League refers to the Chinese 'Qixin Golf Cup'
Xiangqi Top League. The League itself is in its 3rd year, with
different previous sponsorships. Last year it was sponsored by the
General Group, (and known officially as General Cup 2004 China National
Xiangqi League).
In 'Chinese Chess Cyber Newsletter' there is an article which read as
follow : "Sponsored by Mr. Wang Ming, General Manager of Qixin Green
World Golf Club, which is located in Zhejiang's Ningbo city, the 2005
Xiangqi Top League to be known under the name of 'Qixin Golf Cup', will
kick off on Friday 8th of April with a grand opening ceremony in
Beijing's Qiyuan (Chess Academy), proper plays start the next day
(Saturday). At a press conference, Mr. Wang Ming spoke about Xiangqi
and golf, that the two games are both beneficial and healthy to mind
and body, the enthusiast players seemed to live a longer life too. The
games certainly allow East and West an harmonious meet. Mr. Wang said
he played Xiangqi for more than 50 years, Weiqi more than 30 years, and
golf probably more than 10 years. In primary school, he already read
'Xiangqi', a leading monthly magazine, knew a lot about the exploit of
Yang Guanlin, China's first ever Xiangqi Grandmaster and Champion.
The Xiangqi League will have 12 teams participating : Guangdong, Hubei,
Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Jilin, Beijing, Zhejiang, Hebei, Shanghai,
Shenyang, Sichuan and Hunan. They will play a double round all play
all, a total of 22 rounds altogether. Each round consists of 4 boards,
one of them a 'quick play'. "
