| Thanks to Youhao's posting on 9 October.
The name of the tournament he mentioned was formerly known as the Asian
Xiangqi Masters Invitation Tournament. The last one, 11th in the
series, was held in Singapore in 2003. The AXF then resolved to rename
it Asian Xiangqi Individual Championships(AXIC), starting from 2005. It
comprises the Men's Division and the Women's Division.
The other biennial competition of the AXF is the Asian Xiangqi
Championships (AXC) which takes place on even-numbered years. Beijing
hosted the 13th AXC in 2004. The major event of the AXC is the team
competition. In addition there is a Women Individual Tournament(was
once a team event) and a Junior Individual Tournament.
I won't be attending the forthcoming AXIC. However, The Singapore
delegate will keep me posted daily while they are in Manila from 12th
to 18th October. Xiangqi fans may check out the AXF website for news of
the 12th AXIC in due course.
