Interesting set, at least to me

| My wife recently visited Singapore and brought back a Xiang Qi set that
is the most convincing 'fake antique' I've seen - but then of course I'm
not very familiar with this art form.
The shop-keeper made no pretenses; he was very up-front about the fact
that he imports articles from craftsmen in China who make incredible
imitations of antiques. This particular item is made up of a folding
wooden board about 15" x 16" (I'm guessing), with storage trays for
wooden disc pieces which are probably 1 1/2" diameter, with the paint
markings very "realistically" faded. There are little brass tabs, again
suitably "aged" which hold the board inside the wooden case. To store
the pieces, you rotate the tabs, lift up on the board with a sort of
black ribbon to access the trays, and store the pieces inside. The
trays and the inside are done up with imitation woodcuts of Chinese
newspapers.
It is not a practical playing set, as the board is "aged" to a very dark
cherry and the pieces have "lost" their colors. But it is certainly
quite an interesting article, one that I would imagine isn't so easily
found in the US, and I think worth the $50 my wife paid after,
apparently, a very long bargaining session (original asking price was
$150).
But to bring this all around to a question - I had actually hoped she
could have found a set with a stone board and stone discs. Apparently,
she was told, such a thing doesn't exist, and was just a product of my
wishful imagination.... but has anyone ever seen a stone set with stone
discs? (Not 3-D stone figurines; I've seen those a number of places.)

| Do you have pictures of the set? I could give them temporary WWWhousing, so
that members of the group could look at them.

Remind me not to sit opposite your wife in negotiations.

Great thought - I'll get together a few pictures (may take a week or so)
and post them on my web site; and thanks for your offer of hosting in
any case.

I would not advise it either; she trained, so to speak, in the markets
in Southeast Asia and she is rather good
