I am using Windows XP Home all updated, with virus scan completed, and upt to
date. When I go to Start>Programs>Games, Spider Solitaire is not listed,
but if I open Free Cell>help>Free cell overview>related topics>playing window
games>Spider solitaire. is there and I can play the game. Cannot get
shortcut or anything from that location. I have gone to newsgroups, and
tried: add/remove programs>windows components> access utitlites, etc,etc
did as indicated and still does not show in my Start. also tried another
suggestion: went to search sol.* and found paths sol.exe and sol.ex_. but
when it tells me to create shortcut, I cannot, also on file sol.ex_ it stated
to note path. It didnt say anything after that so don't know what to do.
Hopefully someone will be able to help me. Thanks so much.

Do a search for Spider.exe on your hard drive. Sol.exe is regular
Solitaire, also known as Klondike.

I found the following on my hard drive:
spider.exe C:\WINCDOWS\system32
SPIDER:EXE-074011C3.pf C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch
spider.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache
Hopefully you'll be able to help me out now. Thanks in advance.

What happens when you double-click spider.exe in the
C:\WINCDOWS\system32 folder? If Spider Solitaire runs, you merely need
to right-click that file, click "Send To", "Desktop (Create Shortcut)".

Thankyou so much for your response, I was able to do that, and it works fine
now. Thanks again.
