| i had to reload win 98, and now i don't have solitare or any games. I tried
to reload and went to d:\install\wincabs\98fe but nothing happens. I also
don't have many screensavers to choose from anymore.

Open Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup tab. Look
through the many categories, and add/subtract what you want from them.
When you close the utility, you will be asked for the Windows CD. If
the cabinet files are in the D:\Install\Wincabs\98fe folder, direct the
prompt to that folder. First you click OK, it might state it can't find
the cab files. Then you change the folder and drive designation to the
proper folder.
But that doesn't read like the right folder.. That reads like the
install CD's compressed image of the Win98 folder. It is probably
decompressed and written to the following folder:
C:\Windows\Options\Cabs Although, it can be any folder. You can run
the Start Menu's Find utility, look on the C: drive for Win*.cab and see
what folder contains them.

Usually, otherwise, why have a cabs folder? If the files are there,
they may be hidden. You might need to do this so you can see them:
- Click Start, Settings, Folder Options, the View tab. Under Hidden
files, click "Show all files". Also search the Install CD for Win*.cab
