Dungeon Siege II DEMO install problem

| I can not install the DEMO/Trial version of Dungeon Siege II. I have tried
from a DVD in a PC Gamer Magazine and also downloaded it from the internet. I
get the same result from both. It does not matter what I click on "Exspress
Install or Install" I get the same error. It says: "Setup cannot install
system files or update shared files, if the files are in use. Before
continuing, close any open applications
XXXXX-067-....and so on...
This is your product ID number. If you need to call for technical support,
you will be asked for this number......" More on this part later.
I have searched, but have not seen this problem anywhere. I disabled all
non-microsoft services and all startup programs in MSCONFIG, but it still
will not run. I had no problem installing Dungeon Siege a while back, but
this wont install. I called microsoft tech support (spoke to 2 different
support centers) and they said they could not help with a DEMO program (even
though it said to call them and give the number). They said that they could
help me if I BOUGHT the game, but not with the DEMO. I am trying the DEMO to
see if I want to BUY the game. They said if they could not help me with the
problem after I bought it that I could get my money back.
What a pain!
Anyone have an idea?

| Hmm, ever thinking of deleting everything that's in your temp folder?
It's located in C:\Documents and Settings\(This part I don't care
about)\Local Settings\Temp
Note: You might need to enable the see hidden files and folders thing.

| Thanks.....I did try that along with a bunch of others things. Long story
short. Trying to install from a 3rd location did the trick. Not sure why, but
the DVD from PC Gamer did not work and a download from a Demo site did not
work either, but downloading it from the 3rd site did.
Thanks....
