| I bought my MS Flight Sim a few months ago. I installed it and verything wwas
working fine. Until today.
I recently downloaded some addons (scenery, aircraft etc.)
After I downloaded these files and added them to flight sims'
aircraft, scenery folders etc., the game kept quitting and goin back to my
desktop unexpectedly.
Now, I can't run Flight Sim at all. I click the shorcut and the loading
screen appears. Then my screen goes black and goes back to my desktop.
I then deleted all the files I had downloaded that day. Still, I had the
same problem.
So I completely deleted all Flight Sim Files and uninstalled it.
Then I re-installed the program, but the problem still persists.
HOW CAN I FIX IT AND WILL "SYSTEM RESTOR" FIX IT?
PLZ HELP,
ANTONY

| Hello, Antony
If you had installed the FS 2004 patch to version 9.1, did you remember
to uninstall it before uninstalling the main program?
Here is a Microsoft Knowledge Base article about the problem that may
help. -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837195
It is definitely conceivable that a System Restore point could help, but
only if it predates the day on which you began adding the new files. If
you find such a restore point, it will undo everything you have changed
or updated since the time of that restore point, so you might want to
use that blunt instrument as a last resort. Good luck.

| System Restore did not work.
I tried to install the 9.1 update but while installing the update a message
saying that I could not install the update because, well basically I had
messed with the game files.
Going to try the other solutions from the document but don't understand what
most of them mean.

| Thanks Seadog! My flight sim is now working. Although there is still one
problem. When I start FS 2004, it automatically goes to the default flight.
There is no prolem with this as I can change my options from the screen. But
I cannot access the main screen of the game and therfore, cannot access
Lessons + Flight School etc.

| The solution may be to make a new configuration file for FS9. The file
is called fs9.cfg and the easiest way to make a new one is to close down
FS9 (means same as FS 2004) and then open it again while holding down
the SHIFT key and the CTRL key at the same time until it opens up. That
will give you a fresh start to select all your options, under normal
circumstances. Good job on implementing the other solutions, by the way.

| Please turn your computer completely off and restart it. Then try the
CTRL + SHIFT again upon opening FS9. Since this creates a new
configuration file, you will be required to re-enter all your choices
again the settings screens. Once it is running, it is a good idea not to
perform this step unless it is absolutely necessary. You do not state
why you chose to perform this step at this time, but I presume you found
it absolutely necessary. That is, I presume you found FS9 would not
start again, prior to performing this latest restorative measure. Correct?
