Recently I had to reinstal my comp. I had 326 aircraft in all.... I'd
earlier saved my aircraft folder onto disk before I got this new comp.
I checked the discs after reinstallng fs2k2 to find some had cyclic
redundancy. I ended up with 100 planes. I now have about 170....
If youre one of them who write these things...damn you to the damnedest
damnation

Could be a virus but sounds more like a bad disk drive.

Say hello to Mr. Rootkit. Some pretty scary crap out there for those who
insist on launching executables with unknown origins.

toast.
Incidently I got another trojan the other day in a projectai flight plan
package but that was deletable. When I compiled all the files, it
multiplied into 2 BGL files which hi-jacked fs2k2. Norton's latest
update couldnt catch it...I only had to delete the bgls and the flight
plan folder...

Is that true? You can get a virus just by visiting a website?

How does that work?

Hi Dallas -- yes you can, even from what you think are trusted websites. In
my opinion, AVAST anti-virus is the best at coping with these things and
will flag up and stop any virus immediately. It's not always true that you
pay for what you get. In this case, AVAST is completely free, as are the
almost daily updates.

There is no absolute perfect scanner that I would trust. One
recommendation is, don't use IE, the second is (if possible) to
switch off all scripting stuff and the last (maybe the most
important) one is, do not use any browser with administration
rights. Well, you will need those rights for upgrading from time to
time but that's it.
