Fokker 100 panel problem.
|
|
|
| Last week I downloaded, from Flightsim, a revised panel for the Fokker 100
named fmulti11.zip. This is my very favorite passenger jet and the new
panel places radio knobs on the panel and automates many tasks, push back,
autotaxi with variable speeds. But, the plane has lost braking ability upon
landing, except for parking brake. I have communicated with the panel's
creator, Roelof Kruijer, who is very quick to respond. He reports this is
NOT designed into the panel and essentially confirms my first thoughts of a
gauge conflict, possibly with the rcb's gauge. Has anyone else downloaded
this panel and experiencing problems or have a suggestion as to how I can
diagnosis which gauge is causing the conflict?

| Is this your favorite download or type of aircraft you like Danny? Just
wondering. I've just downloaded it.

| I suppose you could describe it as my favorite passenger jet. It is so
smooth. I have had it for about a year I suppose, and really enjoy flying
it. I use FSNav as the FMC and it gives me as much fun as the PMDG 737 I
have. I recently found the revised panel at flightsim and added it to the
plane, that is when the brake problem began.

Danny, - I've got to agree that this is a superb model, - in fact it was one
of your postings about six months ago that convinced me to download it, -
belated thanks for that.
I did download the fmulti, and it's subsequent update, although I haven't
got around to installing it yet. I was, frankly, a little wary of it but if
the braking situation is the only downside you see to it then I'll put it on
tomorrow and see whether there are any similair problems.
The only other braking issue I could see at this point is Rob B's
requirement for an altered panel.cfg line if you are using toe-brakes:
//gauge01=rcb_Groundhandling4!TaxispeedToeBrakes, 79,2,64,61 //If you
have ToeBrakes
gauge01=rcb_Groundhandling4!TaxispeedNoToeBrakes, 79,2,64,61 //If you
have NO ToeBrakes
I have only recently added some CH Pro pedals to my setup and this change
doesn't seem to have affected any of the aircraft in which I'd forgotten to
change it, - but you never know, - if you use toe brakes that is :-)
Roger.

|
| Thanks for the posting Roger. I do NOT use toe brakes just Force-FeedII
joystick. I had (have) brakes set to button one (trigger button on my
stick). Brakes work fine while I am taxing for take off and with every
other plane, but something is causing a conflict on the Fokker100. The
panel creator has been super responsive but offers no suggestion as to the
cause. I will continue to fly this plane and just make adjustments in taxi
speed so I can coast to a stop. If I am not using FSPassengers, I would use
the parking brake to stop but you will be penalized by FSPass if you set
parking brake while rolling.

Danny, - I installed the multi today but all braking systems are working
normally. I couldn't see anything in the installation process which would be
likely to cause trouble, so I guess it is still a bit of a mystery for you.
Re-install perhaps?
Roger.

|
| I'll just have to put an entry in the maintainance log and let the mechanics
check it when I get that bird back to the Hub. Happy flying

Hmm, what value is set in the [brakes] section of the aircraft.cfg for the
F100 ?
Specially for the toe_brakes_scale=x.xx value?
Greetings from cloudy Amsterdam,
Jan
| |
|
| Jan I am copying and pasting the toe brake section as I found it. HOWEVER,
I am using a joystick and no pedals. Would this value affect joystick or
keyboard braking? Remember, I have braking at the beginning of the flight
but not after landing.
[brakes]
toe_brakes_scale=0.762963
parking_brake=1

The toe_brakes_scale effects breaking in all cases you use the .(point) key,
joystick trigger or any other means you have defined.<g>
From the above it's obvious that this is not the reason for your problems.
In an earlier post from Roger two settings were suggested for breakes in the
panel.cfg, I presume you have tried both wether or not you actually have toe
breakes...
Additionally have you tried breaking after landing with the point key on the
keyboard?
If all these options have failed, could it be you forget to switch something
on or off in the AC so either a hydraulic pressure failure results in no
break action after touchdown, or as the gauche names imply, you have set a
certain taxispeed what overrides breaking?

Greetings from sunny Amsterdam,
Jan

|
| Jan,
Once I loose braking, all methods fail to cause any braking action. No
joystick button. Neither the F11 nor F12 has any braking effect and does not
place the red 'Differential Braking' flag in the lower left of the screen.
I can also press the '.' on keyboard with no effect and no 'Brake' flag
appears in the lower left.
Since I have the ability to brake once I leave the ramp at the departure
airport, do you think the sim will change the config file setting, WHILE THE
SIM IS RUNNING, and then back again? I have no problem locating and editing
config files. This is just an area with which I have little knowledge, so
your thoughts are much appreciated. This problem is only on the Fokker 100
plane to which I added the updated panel. It is such a convenient panel, I
think I'll just have to tolerate the problem. On the panel is a column of
'taxi speeds' that are clickable to increase or decrease to that speed. The
panel's author included a 'zero' speed. He has suggested to me, as a work
around method, that I use the 0 speed to stop the plane, lacking any other
method. The first flight I made after his suggestion had an FSPassenger
in-flight emergency with landing gear failing to fully deploy. Needless to
say, the metal belly of the plane, grinding against the concrete runway,
provided sufficient braking effect for me and all aboard. But as soon as the
company doctor clears me to fly again, I will try clicking the 0 speed. But
what are you thoughts to the question posed earlier in this posting about
the Sim changing the config file?

| Hi Danny,
unfortunately I do have no idea what could cause your brake failure
but one thing is for sure, even if something would try to change
your cfg file(s) during the flight, it would have no effect at all.
FS loads this file prior to the aircraft use and does not touch it.
You may check this by looking after your file date.
Your problem could be caused by *everything*. I would try a complete
re-install of the aircraft and its gauges and sounds. I had had a
Fokker problem myself that had been caused by an upgrade file that
should have fixed some night aspects of the original panel.
Unfortunately it did more than this. To get rid of the problem, I
deleted all Fokker related downloads, uninstalled the aircraft and
related files and started from the sketch again - successful (lucky me).
