Actually a B-52 doesn't have ailerons. It uses spoilers to control
bank. I think the maximum bank angle is 60 degrees. If you look
at the video you can see full spoiler deployment on the right wing.

With the severe slip the right wing was probably blanked by the
fuselage so there was no possibility for recovery. I suppose that
at 10,000' you could swing it into a full dive with the rudder then
pull out if the wings don't fold.
