| The trophy is back with the AVSIM 'Round the World' racers after
losing it last year to the FlightSim pilots. Yeay!!! :-)
Here's a race map with some basic stats:

Here are some pix of the final leg from EDDF (Frankfurt) to EDDI
(Berlin) which was flown by many participants in the DC-3.

The race started off with an airlift to Berlin in DC-3's and they
wanted to finish the same way.
They flew around the clock continuously since last Sunday, the 19th!!!
Cudos to *ALL* pilots :-))

Like what?
My personal opinion is that SOH shouldn't have backtracked as much as
they did flying North from South America. Or going all the way south
in Australia (to probably meet the 45° South requirement which they
did again on the southern tip of So. America for the bonus airport).
But those little time wasters obviously benefitted AVSIM :-)
The rules were a lot tougher this year - no Concorde leg (which was
AVSIM's downfall last year) and not flying above 8500 ft in the
eastern Hemisphere. That made the Alpine bonus challenge a real
challenge :-))
But, all in all, these guys did a great job - some were up for 24 hrs
straight!
BTW, the detailed rules are here:
