| Svchost.exe is an windows application that runs services on WinNT, Win2000,
and WinXP (possibly others). You won't be able to tell what exactly it's
running w/o looking at the process in more detail. Svchost.exe also runs COM
applications, I believe.
If you download "Process Explorer" from sysinternals.com, you can see what
the svchost.exe children are. For example, here's a snapshot from my

Svchost.exe is running mpfagent.exe, rundll32.exe, mdm.exe, and winword.exe.
Usually, though, these are under single instances of svchost.exe.
