Have just installed FSX DeLuxe.

On my system (P4 3.6 GHz, RAM 2 Gb, Radeon X600 256 Mb), maintaining the
default settings it's simply *unplayable*.
I didnt even check the FPS rate but it was not higher than 2-3.
Engine noise of the default 747 is ridiculous: a sort of strong wind in your
ears (like if you were sailing).
Scenery of the default LIMC just a bit better of that of FS9, but the
surroundings (trees, ground color) is most like that of an african oasis
(LIMC is about 50 Km from the Alps).

I do hope there's something wrong with my system (which, incidentally, works
just fine in any other task).

Quai, Read Cannuck's post. He is having much better success. I know you
like a lot of AI, but, maybe you should throttle back on the sliders
somewhat and improve your frame reates. But, you likely have tried some of
that already. Even the default settings may be too aggressive for current
systems, even the most up-to-date computers. But in 12 to 18 months,
systems will be much better able to handle the graphic demands. Surely MS
is building for the 'future', not for the present. I don't have FSX yet.
Hopefully it will be a Christmas present from a family member, (since it is
on my Amazon.com wish list) I likely will start with ALL sliders at a
minimum then experiment upward from there. Good luck getting it to work
more smoothly. Cannuck has some tips he posted or read on the Avsim Forums.

Thanks Danny. I didnt install any AI actually, and default FS AI has always
been poor. However, beyond the FPS issue which I expected MS to work a
little on it, and they did not, I can hardly recognize the environment of
ground zones I know well. I'm not talking about how realistic the roads are,
if a given motorway is actually as I expect it to be, but the environment
itself: flying over northern Italy looks like a tropical zone!
Maybe I need to have a closer look and be used to the new environment which,
however, has nothing to share with the old FS9 environment with the usual
addons like GE and UT.
I'll look for Cannuck's post.
