Author Can't get MS Flight Simulator 2004 to work

After installing software I get the following error message: The version
FS2004 is not compatible with this version of FSUIPC! It is build
9.01.40901. You need correct version of FS2004. Check the help about: the
build should be 9.00.30612. FSUIP will terminate when you select ok.

The next message pops up: Flight simulator was unalbe to load some aircraft
or software. You can continue using flight Flight Simulator but this
aircraft or software will be disabled File FSUIPC.dll.

This is software out of the box. The only thing I've seen of the game is
the intro video.

Regards,
Bernard

You will need the FS9.1 update which is available from the Microsoft Flight
Sim website.

Gday Bernard
First up, don't panic. Sounds like you need the FS9.1 patch
and its available from

http://www.microsoft.com/games/flig...9.1_english.asp

About 1/3 way down the page. Follow the instructions and you should be
good to go.

The error message is coming from the software you installed but the
patch should get rid of it.

As others have said, you need the 9.1 patch but it also seems you have an
out-of-date version of FSUIPC. Did you have an earlier version of FS
installed?

Or better, what version of FSUIPC do you have installed?? Sounds like you
have the FS2K2 version which will not work in FS9. 2.75 or 2.9 I think.
LOL Been too long.

How do I find out the version number?

There was no other version of flight simulator installed, however I did try
to install two discs for flight simulator, namely FS Falcon 2004 and F-117A
Stealth fighter.

When Fllight simulator wouldn't load I uninstalled every thing and tried to
re-install Flight Simulator on its own.

I think by the the messages posted, there are two seperate problems. I've
just finished work, and am too tired to try the fixes suggested, I'll try in
the morning and let you know what happens.

Bernard, to find the version number of FSUIPC, start FS9 the on the menu
bar at top click on Modules>FSUIPC. The window that opens should show the
version number of FSUIPC, if not click on the proper tab to see it. I
believe the current version is 3.7. I have the registered version but I
believe there is only one version number whether registered or free version
is used. You can download the most current version of FSUIPC. It is a
..dll file that you just place in the Modules folder of FS9.1. Follow this
link to the author's website to download v3.7.

Hey Guys,

Based on my reading of the message and his post, he HAS ver 9.1, but his
version of FSUIPC is an older one. Getting the latest version (3.7) and
installing it (the.dll file) in the Modules folder should solve the problem.

He can't check Help/About if FS aborts every time he gets the message. BUT,
he can go into the Windows directory tree, to the FS9 folder (wherever he
has it installed) and check the FSUIPC.dll file in the Modules folder, see
what version it is. He can also go into the main FS9 folder, find file
FS9.exe, check that version. THAT file should show (if I am reading the
error message correctly) 9.01.40901.

I have a hunch one of those sims he installed MAY have had an old versions
of FSUIPC and installed it. Just a guess though. A clean install, out of the
box, could be FS9.1, especially if he bought it recently. But it normally
does not have a copy of FSUIPC included--or did not used to. Right now,
anything is possible. :-))

That's odd -- there's no reference to 'FSUIPC' in the modules folder in my
FS9 folder !

The following are the total contents of the modules folder :

ABLSCPT.DLL
ACONTAIN.DLL
AI_PLAYR.DLL
ATC.DLL
CONTROLS.DLL
DEMO.DLL
DYNAMIC.DLL
FACILITIES.DLL
FE.DLL
FLIGHT.DLL
FSUI.DLL
G2D.DLL
G3D.DLL
GLOBAL.DLL
gps.DLL
gps_export.dll
INSTRUCTOR.DLL
MAIN.DLL
mpchat.DLL
MULTIPLAYER.DLL
PANELS.DLL
REALITY.DLL
SIM1.dll
SimScheduler.DLL
SOUND.DLL
SYMMAP.DLL
TERRAIN.DLL
Traffic.DLL
TrafficInfo.DLL
UTIL.DLL
VISUALFX.DLL
Weather.DLL
WINDOW.DLL

Perhaps 'FSUIPC' is hidden somewhere in another folder. Might try and do a
search to locate it.

Nope, just done a complete search of my PC and there is no file called
'FSUIPC.dll' that appears anywhere in my PC. FS9 still works fine though -
so no problems there !

From what I can surmise from the internet FSUIPC.DLL is not a part of FS2004
but an add on program to help other programs talk to FS. The original poster
apparently installed a bunch of software on top of FS2004 and some may have
been down-level. From my viewpoint he needs to remove all the software he
installed and their directories then install FS2004 and get it working
before adding any add-ons. As was mentioned by other posters the module does
not exist in FS2004 itself. A google search on the file will give lots of
information....
