Author Formation takeoffs at KATL??

Hi all,

I'm having fun with Google Earth (free at http://earth.google.com/)
and while zooming around my home airport, KATL, I noticed 4 planes
seemingly taking off from one runway, 8R. (It's the runway pait to the
north of the terminal complex - 8R is the takeoff rwy and is the one
closer to the terminals. While 8L is the landing rwy!)

There's a plane on the runway taking off at
33° 38' 48.50" N 84° 25' 17.27" W

Then one just taking off right ahead of it (east) . Another is ahead
of it a bit to the left of the runway centerline (over the road). And
yet another ahead of it even more to the left t over the railway
tracks.

Then on the South side of the airport, on 9R (the landing rwy,
furthest from the terminals) it looks as if a plane is just touching
down with another breathing up it's tail slightly to the West not on
the extended centerline!! Could that be a go around???

Busy and scary place ;-)))

OK - how do I incorporate that scenery into FS9? I know - wishful
thinking ;-((

most of us had a program that depicted all the flights at LA the time as it
happened and that was scary. I must reinstall it if I can find it. Anyone
assist with source??

I was wondering the same Tom. Its would be easy enough to pause a scene at a
set height and then by moving back and forward to windows register the two
scenes accurately together, capture and save and then er... the tricky
part.. fs scenery language

appears to be the same plane, I bet someone smart could tell you how often
the camera was taking pictures based on that airplanes location, you can
follow it taking a left turn on departure

Adam,

Good question.
I'm totally new to Google Earth - I only got it today.

Since the Lat-Long numbers are the position of the cursor, I would
think that if you move the cursor to at locationon close to the ones
given on the big picture and then start zooming in, you should get
close.

Maybe there's a window where the Lat-Long's can be input directly.
I haven't found one yet, though.

thats what i did to find it... however it would be a good option to
have..... its probably in there somewhere but i cant find it!

i cant believe the quality of the pictures in the USA... its amazing... my
house the resolution stops getting better at about 80'000 and im just
outside london (15miles)!!
my house is displayed as a black lines for the roads and green for the
houses lol

After opening Google Earth I checked help and went to their bbs.
Actually it's Keyhole's bbs. A lot of Key hole topics there but I did
find three links to 1. Google Earth 2. Google Earth Plus 3. Google Earth
Pro.

I found that you can use gps in the free version if it's in the right
format.
33° 38' 48.50" N 84° 25' 17.27" W Should be writen as 33d 38' 48.50"
N , 84d 25' 17.27" W in the fly to box.

Over my house I can zoom in to an 'eye alt' of about 660 ft before it
starts to get really blurry. I can make out the chimney on the roof.
The image must have been taken in the spring since my Azaleas are all
red - they only bloom for about 3 weeks in the Spring. And my car can
also be seen in the driveway!
In NYC, there's a big construction hole at the World Trade Center
site, indicating the pix were taken about a year or more after 9/11.

Some good views can be had of the pyramids to the West of Cairo. But
the Sphynx, although they have labelled it, can not be seen.

Most larger airports, be it Narita near Tokyo or San Francisco, can be
easily seen in great detail. Now if they only could be imported into
AFCAD ;-))

Did you place a marker over your house? Neat feature!
