Question for UK readers

| Today I flew into and out of Gatwick with Easyjet.
On both legs, I noticed, about three or four minutes flying time to the west
of Gatwick, there's a smallish airport and what looked like one large
jetliner parked on a taxiway at a diagonal angle just alongside the main
runway.
This aircraft looks like a Boeing 767 or a 777 or perhaps a Lockheed
Tristar..... hard to be specific because of the altitude I was at . The
plane looks too large for the type of airfield and I was curious and hoped
someone here could throw some light on the subject. The jet indeed looks too
big to even take off from such a short runway. I'm guessing it might be
Oldham?
I'm curious!

| John Slevin.
It could be Farnham, which, although famous, is quite small but can take
large aircraft. It might be Odiham, which is an RAF helicopter base, but I
doubt it.
Oldham is in Lancashire many miles up north.

| When we left Gatwick, on a westerly heading, we passed this airfield after
3min 40 secs flying time (A319) I had my stopwatch running just to time our
flight!
This would put the airfield 12-15? miles west of Gatwick?
John.

Possibly Dunsfold where they also film the BBC Top Gear motoring programme.

click on tge Aerial icon to see what it looks like from the air.
747s can land there although I don't know if the runway is long enough for them
to take off again. You may have seen this plane that's being used for TV/film
work before being scrapped.

Yep, that's it! It's Dunsfold! The aerial shot is exactly as I remember
because I took note of the layout!
Thanks guys!! This NG is brilliant. No matter what you need to know
aviation-wise, someone comes up with the goods.
Cheers,
John.

Hi John
I agree with David Morgan. Dunsfold, south east of Godalming, would be
my best bet. See <URL:http://makeashorterlink.com/?Y10031A7B> and note
the distance between Gatwick and Godalming.
Regards
James
