Hi all,

I'm trying to do an IFR flight into Heathrow but am not sure how to get
established on the glideslope. I am using the autopilot and have got the APR
button pressed but are there other things I need to do? How do I know when
the plane is established? Also, what does it mean when ATC say "expect
vectors to....." how do I know I have the vectors and what do I do to
activate these?

Sorry if these questions sound a bit dim but I'm confused!!

Thanks.

Hi

There is a good tutorial on flightsim.com here
http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?VI...owto/qsg737.htm which
although based on the 737 will teach you most of what you need to know about
IFR.

It won't answer your second question though, I would try some landing's
without ATC first, the above tutorial does not use ATC.

hey dude its very easy to understand

Vectoring means that the ATC can see you on his radar screen and will
gouide you to the active rwy by giving you number of bearing from your
present location so that you can establish your precission approach.:|

So for establishing approach by using auto pilot u neet to press APR
button whivh means Approach.

You also have to tune the ILS frequency in your Nav 1 Radio For the
rwy you are using approach for.

Then on HSI you schould see two needels in horizontal and veritcal
position. When wour are have esablished your approch then you will see
those needles exactly centered making plus + symbol.

You can also activate auto speed hold button for your auto pilot to
contro your approach speed for toy then deploy flaps gears and Spoilers
and here you are ready for landings

Happy Landings !!!!!!!

Aman !!!!!
