I am new to FS and learning. In lessions I took the level
flight and in cockpit view the sound of the engine drowns out the spoken
instructions. In aircraft view I can hear the words but not the engine.

Yes, a common problem Joe,
Use Alt to bring up the toolbar/Options/Sound and change the relative values
of the sounds with the sliders. You will find that the Sim has an infinite
number of ways to control almost everything until you have it to your own
satisfaction.
Good luck and keep in touch with the gang here.

Welcome to the wonderful world of simming!
Now you've gone and done it. :-)

Well first of all I'd like to congradulate you on finding the lessons.
Lots of newbies can't seem to find the them.

Second....I've never heard of the sound being that screwed up before, but
what you could do is this: when in flight press ALT, goto SETTINGS then
SOUND. There you can reset volumes until you're satisfied.

You can also access the settings menu from the main menu, but I suggest you
do while in flight.

Good luck!

And what a gang it is!

Right now it's just you and me.....not even David picked a number.

Thanks for the quick help. I had gone into settings and disabled all the
sounds except dialogue but when I ran the lesson again the engine noise was
still there.
When I did as you suggested while in flight use ALT and adjusted from there
using Q to toggle sound on and off but still got engine noise but clicking
in the bar on top reduced it and I could hear the instructions.
Thanks for the help and I will have fun with this I am sure.
