gidday Jaydubb and do I detect an echo from the far south. Come on Jeff we
have to admit it they can now beat us at most sports.
With their 4 times the population we could meet them and often beat them but
they have moved to 5 times our population they now have the edge!!! We even
have to borrow the Kiwis out of their top teams to even things up a bit!!
Yep coming over on 11 May and off direct to Surfers JW to stay with
daughter. Might be going up to Cairns also. Will email you as I believe your
hard drive packed up and you are back on new gear no addresses.
Have just come back on myself with a new 3.2 gig AMD and having a ball on
flight sim. Can change views and get instant change of scenery response and
dead smooth landings with high tech a/craft and loaded airfields. No more
slide shows yay!! Still got a lot to load on and doing it step by step so I
don't transfer rubbish.
We've both been absent fronm this forum in the interim but note Marcel,
Dally, Dr Crash and co faithfully continued as our reps.
Regards all
Butts

If that theory were only true - just even a little bit - then England
would win the Ashes.

I've never been a big fan of rugby league but I have started to watch
it recently and enjoyed the NZ vs Aussie game.

I promise I won't mention the World Cup Rugby Union.

BTW, I also watched the ANZAC commemeration: most moving.

That's the same sport you guys play, but the NFL demands that players wear
some kind of protective gear. God forbid any of these big, burly guys would
get hurt and sue somebody.

Rugby players just say: "Nads? What are those?"

I have thought so as well. At first I wondered how in the heck they
played without 50% of the Rugby players ending up in the hospital, but
then I realized the Rugby players spent most of their time in a big
huddle trying to shove their way to one end of the field or the other.

NFL Football is more than a big brawl, those big linemen and secondary
hit to hurt. Their day isn't complete unless more than 3 of the
opposing team either limps, or is carted off the field. Maybe they come
back after shaking it off, or not, as the pigskin god allows.

The secondary of either team just wait patiently for a skinny wide
receiver to jump high in the air trying to catch a high pass and they
either hit him chest high, laying him out cold, or take him at the
knees, spinning him like a cartwheel until he hits the ground on his
head. The head is protected, but the neck is not. Some of those big
players are just plain mean and if not for football, they'd be in and
out of jail for inflicting bodily harm to the guy at the next table in
any corner tavern.

In rugby, Bob, the 'scrums' you describe only form a portion of the game.
The back line have to be behind the ball carrier during the passing or it
becomes a forward pass resulting in another scrum with the advantage or' put
in' going to the other side. So you cant just chuck the ball to a player up
the front end. Once the forwards have momentum and are playing the ball
close, the other forwards form (if they desire) something like a delta
scrum formation to turn the group into an unstopable tank and bulldoze their
way over the line to score a touch down (try). They then take the ball
back in line with that scoring spot and try and 'convert' the try by place
kicking over the posts for more points.
There is tactical kicking where the opposition have to leap high to retrieve
it. If they are wiped out dangerously whilst in the air as you describe
then it's a red card and off into the sinbin for a portion or all of the
time.
The locks in the scrum sometime wear head guard to prevent the onset of
cauliflower ears.

That's curious Dallas mate. I've watched heaps of grid iron and can't on
earth see why its popular. Maybe something to do with American school of
thinking.
I see these guys with 1 meter shoulders and helmets crouched right down to
the point of discomfort eyeballing the other side and then ..... they all
run at each other, 'crunch!!" and no bastard goes anywhere. Everyone
cheers.. hey mighty fun.............. yeah like

Well, ya see... it's really just chess.

The pawns line up face to face to protect everyone in the backfield.
The king is in the center of the formation and doesn't move around much.
The rooks are on the flanks to ready zoom out straight forward to the end
zone.
The knights are there to plow up the middle through the traffic.
And, the bishops are there to move quickly across the field if they see an
opening.
When the king calls the opening move, the object is for the pawns to protect
while provide openings for the backfield pieces to break out into the open
field.

Every play is a complete chess game starting over each time.

Maybe it's too complicated for the members of the Commonwealth?

Maybe we should send a team over and give it a go. But our rugby players
would be scratching their chins about looking like pansies with all those
cushions on. You gotta be able to snap a few collar bones or two in order to
give the subs a run.

Yeah, you blokes love to make fun of American football's body armor...

What you rugby types don't seem to grasp is that these guys are so big and
powerful that most of the players would get killed during the game without
it. Your rugby players would be begging for more "cushions" before the
first quarter was over... that is if they were not unconscious.

I hope you know I was attempting a bit of humor. I also joke about
Arena Football. Even though I watch NFL games all season long, I can't
get excited watching that Arena thing. It looks like a childrens game on
