Hi Dave;
There are several ways to do this. Here's the way I do it.
Since you might not know exactly from the selection box where each ramp
is in relation to where you want to park the airplane, just create a
flight at the airport you want to use with the airplane you want to use.
Considering you want to save a flight with everything shut down and
quiet on a certain place on that airport, bring up the flight on the
active runway.
When the flight comes up, you will be running and ready to go on the
runway you chose. Once the airplane is on the screen, switch views to
top down and take a good look at the airport. Pick out the exact place
you want to park the airplane, then go into slew mode. Slew the airplane
to the ramp you want and return to cockpit mode. Taxi the aircraft to
the exact spot you want, then go through the shutdown checklist for the
airplane in exact order and shut it down. Then go into the fuel and
loading dialog dropdown and set up the aircraft loading and fuel exactly
as you want it to be for the save. Now go into the weather settings and
put in the exact weather you want for the flight.
After you have the aircraft all set up exactly the way you want it, save
the flight with a name; for example, (Cessna172LAX VFR) Now hit the
escape button and bring up the "select a flight" window. Close the sim
using that window.
Now, the next time the sim opens, it will open to the select window.
Just pick any flight you have saved in the manner I've just described,
and you're up and ready to go with that flight; exactly as you left it
the last time on the ramp, or wherever you left it, and in whatever
condition you left it in.
I use the save flight rather than the save as default, because I like to
set up different aircraft at different places, with different weather
conditions and bring up whatever I'm in the mood for as it hits me. :-)
Hope this helps.
