| I am a newbie to FS,not a pilot and am enjoying the
steep learning curve.
That said, I have a Disk 4 question.
Is there a way of making a backup CD of my legal
FS 2004 Disk 4? A folder on the HD with all the Disk 4
files wouldn't work, I don't suppose. Presumably there
are more bytes on the real Disk 4 than can be copied
to a blank CD disk. A friend suggested Alcohol 125%/52%
and they offer a free trial but downloaded on to an
otherwise functioning OS(Win XP),it wouldn't install
correctly.
Thanks in advance for the explanation.

You could always run the "no cd" patch and put it back in the case never to
be used again!

| Download the No-CD crack from one of the hundreds of sites (see Google) and
open your FS9 folder and find FS2004.exe. Place this into a new folder and
call it Backup.
Then put the No-CD crack in its place. voila. You will never need your CD 4
again!

Just to add to Quilly's excellent suggestion, if you have installed the FS
9.1 update, be sure you get the 9.1 nocd file. The version 9 nocd file will
not run many of the enhancements/fixes found in the veer 9.1 update.
The 9.1 update can be found on the MS flight Sim web site. Be sure to read
the extensive readme that comes with the patch--will save you much grief.
:-))
Oh, one other point. I think Quilly had a Senior Moment. The file in the FS9
folder is FS9.exe, not FS2004.exe.
Be sure of course to always back up any original file you replace. You will
need the original FS9.exe if, after adding the nocd file (which is also
named FS9.exe by the way), you later decide to update to FS9.1. All covered
in the 9.1 update readme. :-))

A RAR file is a compressed file. Download e.g. the trial version of WinRAR
(http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm) and decompress the file.

Thanks Paul, I did have a senior moment as I had renamed my own FS shortcut
to FS2004 for some obscure reason which I have also now forgotten!

Hi Quilly,
No problem,. At 70 years young, I have my own moments quite frequently.
:-)))
Cheers,
