Cut and paste from an Avsim forum post from "Matthias". I haven't tried
it.. but people like it a lot.

Hi,

as the FS instant replay cannot save recordings and doesn't record
aileron/elevator/rudder movements, and the FS flight video recorder plays
back videos with terrible stuttering, I started to work on a module, which
can do it better, last year.

I decided to release it as freeware and sent some alpha versions to a small
group of testers. As I didn't get much feedback on the last version, I now
decided to release a public beta version.

It can be downloaded from http://www.neusinger.net/recorder

The module has the following features:
-Recording and playback of flights of unlimited length
-Replaying the last minutes of the flight
-Jumping forward/backward within the recording during playback
-Looping part of a recording during playback
-Playback at different speeds
-Elevators/ailerons/rudder will move as recorded during playback

If you are interested, please download and give me some feedback.

Best regards,
Matthias

HA! I care less about recording my flights than Quilljar does about
following an IFR flight plan. :-)

I've installed this and after just a couple of runs I think it is much
better than the default instant replay. I sometimes like to replay a landing
and this is much smoother. I've set it to the minimum time interval of a
quarter of a second which gives a max replay time of 900 secs, long enough
for me. Also, unlike the default replay, AI traffic appears in the replay.
However it is not a recording of the traffic and it seems that the replay is
superimposed on the current traffic. This could mean that if you replayed a
take off it might show both you and another aircraft t/off at the same time!
That aside however, it does seem an improvement and seeing some traffic when
watching a landing replay is a tad more realistic:0))
