| I have read on this newsgroup before about starting FS9 with different cfg
files for various situations, but have been unable to locate the thread.
Could someone possibly restate the steps required. Thanks.
Michael.

While we're on the subject....does anyone know if it's possible to do
something like this with FSUIPC.INI?
I've backed up the original while I'm still working on perfecting it,
but I'd love to have different INIs to go with my various FS9 profiles.

Hi Marcel
I think the only way would be to have an alternative fsuipc.ini on the
desktop and drop it in to the /modules folder prior to loading the sim. Of
course you would need to move/save the other - a tad messy!

Yeah I thought of that, but it was all that moving around that stopped me.
Of course that always beats changing all the settings in FSUIPC.
I'll do some more brainstorming....
Thanks.

Alernative, create a new shortcut with a command line switch
/CFG:<pathname><altFS9.cfg filename>

Not a problem. Just need to make 2 DOS batch files. I tested this one and
it works:
CD C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules
Rename FSUIPC.INI FSUIPC.1bk
Rename FSUIPC.2bk FSUIPC.INI
echo FSUIPC #2 is now in use
Pause

Yes, pause. Good idea. Pause.
I don't get it.
Where's the difference with renaming these files in Windows, like Steve
suggested?

Well you've certainly got me curious.

Silly... that is a computer program. Those are lines of code.
If you cut and paste those lines into a text file and save it, then change
the file extension to .bat it will become an executable file.
If you were to double click on the file it would perform those tasks.
Ideally you would have two of these batch files that convert the .ini into
the one you want to use. Basically, press the shortcut and FS would use the
file you want it to use.

Yup.
I'll email you the 2 .bat files.

For the archive, here is how to make two shortcuts that switch between two
FSUIPC.INI files.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Make two batch files:
Open a new text document and paste the following:
CD C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules
Rename FSUIPC.1bk FSUIPC.INI
echo FSUIPC #1 is now in use
Pause
Save it as FSUIPC 1.bat
-----------------------------------------------------------
Open a second text document and paste the following:
CD C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules
copy FSUIPC.2bk FSUIPC.INI
echo FSUIPC #2 is now in use
Pause
Save it as FSUIPC 2.bat
-----------------------------------------------------------
Make a new folder:
C:\Batch Files
Then put the two new batch files into it.
Then put a couple of shortcuts to them on the desktop.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Name your two different FSUIPC files - FSUIPC.1bk and FSUIPC.2bk.
Starting FSUIPC 1.BAT shortcut will activate FSUIPC.1bk.
Starting FSUIPC 2.BAT shortcut will activate FSUIPC.2bk.
Back up the two original files some where safe.

Doh!
It's been at least 12 years since I've seen the inside of a BAT.
And it shows, don't it? ;-)

[vbcol=seagreen]
So that takes the INI and renames it to 1bk.
And the 2bk is a file that I make and it gets renamed to INI.
Am I understanding that correctly?
