I downloaded Christian Stock's mesh and NZ Scenery (oct '05 ver), but can't
get the great results as your recent screenies..
ref exhibit #1: http://members.cox.net/drpics/milford.jpg
Picture #1, your beautiful shot of Milford Sound
Picture #2, my results showing the mesh is working for the mountains, but
the ground textures suck! Also notice the elevated lake in foreground. 50%
of the lakes en route from Christchurch were either on a plateau or sunk in
the ground a hundred feet.
Picture #3, the default yuk/puke m/s version - at least it's improved from
that!

ref exhibit #2: http://members.cox.net/drpics/queenstown.jpg
Takeoff from Queenstown, that drive around the lake off my starboard wing
would be a hoot after a couple of Jack Daniels!!!

Is there something else I should be downloading here David? Anybody?

TIA!!

Cheers'n Beers.. [_])

Nope, absolutely no other NZ scenery.

last time I ventured south west of Christchurch some of the mountain rivers
seemed to finish in large elevated square troughs on the lowlands. Is that
what you are seeing DR??

1. For textures: have you installed Stock's new landclass?
http://www.geographx.co.nz/downloads.html It's landclass that
determines which textures are used. (Note: the new landclass also
includes Stock's season fix.)

2. Terrain mesh has set land heights to their proper value. This
reveals inaccuracies in the original lake heights. Stock published a
fix for this:
http://www.massey.ac.nz/%7Eavweb/pa...n/scenery4.html I
don't know whether it works with FS2004 or just FS2002. (His new
payware topo scenery also fixes the lake heights, and definitely works
with FS2004.)

Yeah I havn't ventured on to the payware yet David but I kind of felt all
would be fixed with some of those peculiarities once installed

Well, besides FSG Pacific Islands, which looks like it included NZ so I
uninstalled it, but no diff. Here's a couple of shots where I went back and
looked, first n/w of Christchurch, and the other Mt Cook. I've flown out of
Mt Cook (back set in a Caravan) and know the lake doesn't sit in a hundred
foot depression!! d:-> ))

I think I'd try it, if I KNEW these things would be fixed, and the terrian
would look as nice as Davids. It's about the same difference Ulitimate
Terrian made in North American scenery!! Comon David, level with us, what
are you using..............

Come on, David, level with us, what are you using?

No secret here:

Freeware:
+ 76 mesh (Christian Stock)
+ landclass (Christian Stock)

Payware:
+ NZ Topo Scenery (Christian Stock)
+ ActiveSky V
+ Flight Environment

Topo scenery WILL fix lake heights -- that's one of the things it was
made for. I was just at Mt. Cook on Saturday, and the lake doesn't look
anything like CRaSH's screenshot. Best thing by far, though, is the new
rivers and shorelines, which line up perfectly with the new road
system...

Ok we may now get a clash with some scenery regardless. I have items one and
two but not the topo and now I have floating trees (own scenery) I
downloaded Rotorua and because I havn't the topo scenery had to flatten lake
Rotorua as it was elevated. The other neighbouring lakes were ok. The local
scenery designers normally go with Christian's progressions and an example
is Rotorua and Queestown. Oh yeah DR that screenie showing the elevated
water... I get the same at present.

The author of the payware topo scenery must have specifically added
fixes to the lakes, since lake and shoreline elevations are in their
own scenery
files, not in the mesh files.

Stock's topo scenery rebuilds the lakes, rivers, and shorelines from
scratch. It can (and should be) combined with high-res terrain mesh,
but it is separate.
