Hiya...

I kinda need your help with a simple function in Dialog, which I can't seem
to find.

I'm trying to get rid of any newsgroup message older than 2 days.
Can you tell me where to find this?
Currently I have all messages posted since the 24th.

TIA!

- From the "Group" menu, go to "Default Group Options/Purging". You
can further customize these settings for individual groups by using
the "Selected Group Options/Purging" (for any group you have
currently in focus).

I hope that helps! :-)

I did all that (guess I was looking in the right place after all), and I
have now set everything to "read after 1 day", but the older messages just
won't go away. Should I unsubscribe and then subscribe again for this
option to take affect?

As I'm a bit of a pack rat when it comes to archiving messages, I
haven't yet played with the purging options (no doubt I will at some
point). I've noticed at least a manual "purge" option, and there may
be some automatic setting as well (either by default somewhere in the
settings, or via some script).

For manual purging, in the "Group" menu, you'll see two purging
options:

Purge selected groups/folders
Purge subscribed groups/folders

You can also add these "buttons" to the toolbar and/or simply create
keyboard shortcuts for them by going into:

Settings / Configure buttons/shorcuts / Group

If you want to set a keyboard shortcut, select the action, and the
shortcut creation field below will become active and ready for entry.

I haven't looked through all these yet myself, but you may find
something on one of these two pages to automate certain functions you
might want:

http://www.40tude.com/dialog/wiki/i.../Script_Library

http://www.40tude.com/dialog/wiki/i...tentsAllScripts

Finally, in the interest of not spending so much news group bandwidth
on this sort of thing, you're welcome to write to me via email, and
if I can help you with something, I'll do my best. I can't always
guarantee an immediate reply, but I do read and respond to email
eventually. :-)

<snip>
That worked! (but only in combination with setting the entire group as
read). Now the only messages left are the ones that were posted during the
last two days, which is what I like to see.
Thanks again, milady!
