Author Dell 8400 suitable for FS2004?

The computer has a Radeon X300 SE display adapter with 128MB memory, a
P4 3.2GHz processor and 2 gigs of memory. Is it likely to produce a
frame rate that is smooth at FS2004's highest scenery complexity?

Have one with 3.4 and really good frame rates and smooth. No complaints
here. Will soon swap out the X300 for a X700 as soon as I get my dealer
version.

The X300 is a terrible card. I'd recommend going with the X800 SE at the
very least.

Sure, if you like using 800X600 resolution.

With a X800 you get a smooth frame rate at 1600 X 1200.

800 x 600 you must be kidding..I fly at 1280 x 1024 and thats because its
the monitors limit. And at that res its very good windowed or full screen. I
have not flown 800 x 600 since , well I dont know when. And at my res its so
smooth at times I have to check if this thing is moving or frozen..

The X300 can go to 1600 x 1200 with the right monitor

You'll like the X700 Pro 256 MB... The one I put in the flightsim machine
is a HUGE improvement over the lame FX5300 it replaced... ;)

I personally wouldn't go with a Dell, go to a local computer shop of build
one your self, I only hear bad stories of Dells, Mesh and all the other
bollcks companies attempting to sell computers. I said to my friend the
other day "don't buy a mesh, ill bet you 3-6 months, it will have to go
back..." nope it was 1 day due to them not putting in the right graphics
card and it causing bad conflicts to the point where it always
crashed...n00bs..the lot of them

I have the same machine (only 1 Gig ram however). Runs FS9 with most
sliders maxed out, smooth as silk.

Have fun!

Agreed. I have no problems with the X300 running FS9, Half-Life2, Medal of
Honor-Pacific Assault, or Call of Duty-United Offensive. These are all
demanding games that run fine on my Dell 8400 with the X300 card.

I'm running all my games at 1024 x 768 with no problems with the X300.
