You're not kidding. I was physically sick when I saw those pictures. I actually
vomited twice - within the space of about 45 seconds - as a direct result of
polygon deficiency.
If they release Zelda in that state, with such a nauseating paucity of geometry,
then the kids are gonna be chucking up chunks from here to XXXXing Whitby, and
it'll be the fishmongers of the future that will suffer.
Mark my words.

Of course it's generally accepted that the GC is a fair bit more

You'd be surprised how many people think otherwise. I hear store clerks

I can name a handful of PS2/Xbox/GameCube games that have a much much
higher polygon count then this new Zelda. Infact the worse one is the last
screenshot you posted. It just looks horrid, Nintendo should look in to what
Capcom has been able to do on the Gamecube with Resident Evil 4.

It's very unlikely this is exactly what the finished game will look like.
It'll probably be 6 months or a year until it's released. I think it makes
more sense to have a basic graphical outline for the whole game to work on,
rather than doing it bit by bit in full-blown-wonderfullness.

I think this is less a case of low polygon count and more a case of
unfinished textures and a lack of bump/displacement-mapping and other
effects.
